Leading experiential design company, Holovis, has delivered the world’s first fully immersive ‘Football Heaven’ fan zone in Kings Cross, London.
Created by Hyundai Motor UK and The Brooklyn Brothers to celebrate Euro 2016, the 20m x 40m Hyundai FanDome is a 360° audio-visual experience featuring actor Vinnie Jones, all-action live feeds and special effects.
Virtual 7m by 4m ‘match windows’ are driven by a live satellite feed at twice life size scale. Atmosphere screens feature real time content mixed live by the Holovis team that keeps pace with the mood of the fans.
Vinnie Jones, a former Wales international player, brings it all together with the help of his on-screen team of tattooed cherubs. The animations add to the fun, building the pre-match atmosphere, opening the gates of football heaven and reacting to key match moments. When things are going well, the cherubs play tubas and wheel on cannons. If a player get sent off, they duck behind the clouds to avoid the Grim Reaper.
Every match requires a team of five technical experts delivering the live reactive audio-visual elements. Viewers wear infrared LED wristbands in key matches that are stimulated by live elements in the game, according to which team they are supporting.
Effects such as the scent of cut grass are dispersed throughout the FanDome, giving visitors a real sense of being there.
UK-based Holovis, is a world leader in sensory experience design, creating 2D and 3D theatre set ups, spatial audio systems, portable and permanent installed Dome Theatres, and fully immersive 3D virtual reality experiences.
