SeaWorld Orlando is bringing back “the only nighttime terror run of its kind”

SeaWorld Orlando is combining two major trends in the attractions industry, enhanced Halloween events and wellness experiences, with its Howl-O-Sprint 5K run.

The nighttime run is returning to SeaWorld Orlando for its second year on 2 October at 8pm, with a post-race party taking place afterwards.

Via the SeaWorld Orlando website, runners will “step into the only nighttime terror run of its kind – Howl-O-Sprint 5K – where relentless creatures stalk your every step and whispers of curses hang in the air”.

“Race past roller coasters haunted by unspeakable horrors. Navigate eerie landscapes and harrowing scare zones lurking in the park’s darkest corners,” SeaWorld adds.

“Every stride is a fight-or-flight moment… and the finish line may be your only escape.”

At the post-race celebration, guests will enjoy themed F&B, live entertainment, and the chance to explore one of the new haunted houses at Howl-O-Scream.

This year’s Howl-O-Scream includes six scare zones (four of which are new), five haunted houses (three are new), five interactive bars (four are new), four rides after dark (Mako, Ice Breaker, Pipeline, Infinity Falls), two roaming haunts, and two shows – ‘Monster Stomp’ and the new ‘Throttle’.

Halloween / wellness crossover at SeaWorld

Halloween events are being expanded across the attractions industry, particularly at theme parks, as operators take advantage of the growth of seasonal experiences.

At the same time, consumer interest is growing in the areas of exercise, healthy eating, self-care and mindfulness, as well as other expressions of wellness.

In more news, SeaWorld Orlando has teased its new dark ride for 2026, named SeaQuest: Legends of the Deep and described as “a deep sea adventure like no other”.
