Star Trek Movie Park Germany

Star Trek: Operation Enterprise has opened at Movie Park Germany. The triple launch coaster from Mack Rides appears at the park in North Rhine-Westphalia after two years of planning and construction.

“We’re incredibly proud of our new themed attraction,” says Movie Park general manager Thorsten Backhaus. “It’s a rollercoaster that gives guests an adrenaline rush and takes them right into the heart of the Star Trek universe. We’re the only theme park to have secured an official Star Trek coaster licence.”

Movie Park Germany collaborated closely with CBS Consumer Products to get the project off the ground. Other attractions featured in the park, both licensed and non-licensed, include Van Helsing’s Factory, The Walking Dead Breakout, The Lost Temple and Ice Age No Time For Nuts 4D. The park was also the first in Europe to feature a Nickelodeon themed area.

Star Trek: Operation Enterprise, opened on June 7 and immerses guests into the Star Trek story long before the step on board. Guests access the ride from the new Federation Plaza As they move from room to room, they are “trained” for their mission as Starfleet cadets. The Enterprise and her crew are on their way to a United Federation of Planets meeting when they are attacked by the Borg and taken aboard the enemy ship. The only hope of rescue is the Starfleet cadets on the bridge of a nearby ship. Guests can expect to see a holodeck, two transporter rooms and a true-to-original replica of the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D bridge as featured in Star Trek: The Next Generation.

The coaster itself features such ride elements as a 40m, 180° twisted vertical spike, 30m top hat, Immelmann, heartline roll, 100° over-banked curve, 270° helix and zero-G roll. The ride features 720m of track and reaches a top speed of 90km/h after the first LSM launch. Complementing the complete experience, the Budapest Philharmonic Orchestra recorded a rich soundtrack for IMAscore.
