“The goal is to spark curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking

Meow Wolf has launched an educational initiative to enhance its immersive art experiences with new learning guides for guests.

Using these guides, students and other guests can explore, discover and engage with the group’s exhibits through the lenses of environmental, life and computer sciences.

Each guide includes pre-visit materials and post-visit activities. The guides are aligned with state educational standards, Meow Wolf said. They are organised by age group and are flexible enough to be used for a wide range of learning styles and needs.

The company’s new programme “uncovers a new depth of significance and learning in our artistry”, said Julie Heinrich, Meow Wolf’s chief impact officer.

“Deeper meaning and real world insights are revealed in the guides and activities,” she added.

“With a focus on art and science, the learning guides also help students better understand jobs that exist in their communities, whether creative industries like ours, or careers in science, technology and computing. We’re taking mind expansion to a whole new level!”

The learning guides cover topics such as environmental science in vibrant ecosystems and storytelling techniques through art. They also introduce students to the STEAM careers behind Meow Wolf’s exhibitions, and include stories and insights from the company’s creative and technical teams.

“By launching this new education program, Meow Wolf invites students to experience art not just as spectators but as active participants in the learning process,” says a press release.

“The goal is to spark curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking – skills that are essential for the next generation.”

Meow Wolf started out as a small art collective in Santa Fe in 2008 and is now a leader in the world of immersive art experiences with four permanent installations – in Santa Fe, Las Vegas, Denver and Grapevine.

A second Texas location called Radio Tave is opening in Houston on Halloween, before a new Meow Wolf destination in LA.
