Studio Create, a leading design firm for the visitor attractions industry, was approached by FEVER to help bring to life the Instagram sensation Accidentally Wes Anderson, transforming its digital persona into a real-world visitor experience.
The challenge was to create something that was as visually impactful as the content within without detracting from the images themselves. The team also needed to stay true to the iconic aesthetic within the venue’s confines. Plus, there was a tight deadline for the project. However, Studio Create was able to design, produce and supervise installation on time and to budget.
A collaborative project
The Accidentally Wes Anderson Instagram account has been a viral success worldwide. The key task was to take this online, small-screen format and successfully translate it into an engaging real-world experience that transports guests to another world.
The project was a collaboration between Studio Create and Fever, a leader in the immersive events arena, taking the valuable input from the Instagram account’s followers, who submit images from across the globe, to realise the vision of an exhibition dedicated to the whimsical world of director Wes Anderson.
Accidentally Wes Anderson: The Exhibition is described as: “A journey through more than 200 of the most beautiful, idiosyncratic, and interesting places on Earth.” Guests can explore seven themed rooms filled with visual inspiration, amazing photography, and immersive moments, all of which invite them to look at the world through a different lens.
Located in South Kensington, London, the exhibition opened in December 2023 and has since been extended due to popular demand.
Simon Morrell, creative director at Studio Create, says: “The opportunity to work with both Fever and Accidentally Wes Anderson was fantastic and was a great chance for us to showcase where we really add value to experience design. No two projects are ever the same for us, and bringing to life an online phenomenon into the real world was an exciting challenge.”
