Sarner International, the leading experiential design expert, has shared details of its commission to deliver audiovisual design and integration for the newly opened Operation Ouch! Brains, Bogies and You exhibition at the Science and Industry Museum in Manchester, UK.
This is the company’s second commission from the Science Museum Group on the Operation Ouch! exhibition series. Sarner previously provided exhibition design, lighting design, and AV design and integration for the popular exhibition, Operation Ouch! Food, Poo and You, which debuted in 2023.
A spokesperson from the company says: “We are thrilled to have been entrusted with this repeat commission, a testament to the strength and continuity of our partnership with the Science Museum Group. This follows our recent work on a turnkey design and realisation project for the immersive Flying Scotsman VR Experience, which was also launched in 2023.”
Crafted for touring
Operation Ouch! Brains, Bogies and You is produced by the Science and Industry Museum and developed in collaboration with BBC Children’s and Education and Objective Media Group. The exhibition takes guests on an interactive adventure to discover the intricacies of the human brain. Visitors will learn about the five familiar senses, touch, sight, hearing, smell, and taste, plus some less-known ‘secret senses’.
Sarner’s in-depth understanding of the unique requirements of touring exhibition design is demonstrated in the contributions of its in-house audiovisual engineering department. The company’s approach has resulted in an AV system that is optimised for quick installation and derigging, and reliable during operation.
Furthermore, the system has been developed to be adaptable for varied layouts at different locations, while ensuring straightforward packing, storage, and transportation.
Earlier this month, Sarner International announced that it is collaborating with the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust in Stratford-upon-Avon, UK. The project will develop a new visitor experience that delves into the creative and cultural environments that helped shape the iconic writer in his early years.
