Valo Motion releases immersive Photobomb game for ValoArena

News
Photobomb Valo Motion

Valo Motion, a pioneer in combining interactive technology with physical activities, has announced the launch of Photobomb, the sixth mixed-reality game for its immersive ValoArena gaming room. The new title can be played by up to six players at a time and transports players to the glamour of a Hollywood movie premiere.

In the game Photobomb, up to six players pretend to be superstars, pulling up in a limousine for a red-carpet event. Every round, a picture frame arises, and players have to move quickly to get inside it before the surrounding paparazzi snap their image. Being the most noticeable “star” in the pictures is the aim; points are awarded for hands, feet, and face markers that are included in the shot. The player with the greatest score at the end of 12 dynamic rounds is the star of the show.

Family fun

The purpose of this game of friendly competition is to make players laugh and have fun while promoting social interaction and light strategic thinking. With Photobomb, Valo Motion hopes to make players laugh at the ridiculousness of the pictures captured during each round and experience the excitement of being in the spotlight.

Children who are six years old and upwards will find the game especially appealing due to its bright backdrop and straightforward but competitive action. The images captured during the match are frequently amusing and surprising. As well as being engaged with the main game mechanic of attempting to enter the frames before other players, players will find it amusing to recognise themselves in these absurd situations. Additionally, this party game is meant to be easy enough for parents to understand and enjoy, allowing them to participate and have memorable experiences with their children.

“Social, active fun is one of the core principles of ValoArena, and Photobomb is our 6th game for this platform that encourages movement in a new way,” says Dr Raine Kajastila, CEO and founder of Valo Motion. “Photobomb turns the ValoArena into a crazy Photo Booth and is most fun when played together with friends.”

A memorable social gaming experience

Photobomb is a straightforward but memorable social gaming experience that uses exclusive motion capture technology from Valo Motion. The game consists of a single level with 12 pictures shot in each session. Every round is selected at random from a large pool of over 50 unique pictures, guaranteeing that no two gameplay sessions are the same and enticing players to return for more.

Valo Motion’s lead game developer Lauri Lehtonen explains:

“We wanted to add photo booth functionality into ValoArena, but at its heart, the product is a gaming platform. That’s why we decided to make a game that is about taking photos. The silly pictures taken by Photobomb are just the icing on the cake on top of the engaging, casually competitive game mechanics of trying to be the most visible person in the frame.

“The game is a perfect fit for friend groups and families to laugh together for a while and make some shared memories.”

This new release’s cross-generational appeal is a highlight. ValoArena is fun for everyone, unlike specialist attractions that cater to niche audiences. Its design overcomes common difficulties with VR attractions, including headgear and controller discomfort, and usability. Photobomb attracts families with young children and teens looking for group fun, making the ValoArena a top indoor entertainment destination.

Additionally, Photobomb can smoothly integrate with gated admission, single-ticket entrance, group booking, and reservation business models at location-based entertainment venues. This adaptability lets Photobomb blend in, improving the venue’s appeal and giving guests a new experience.

Valo Motion also adds a brand-new function to ValoArena with Photobomb. In addition to the game video, players can now obtain photos captured by the game. These pictures and videos can be posted on various social media sites and feature the branding of the entertainment venue.

Earlier this month, Valo Motion announced that its client, AR’s Entertainment Hub, has selected ValoArena for all of its family entertainment centres in Texas, US.
