Key trends in 2024
The event trends 2024 report includes insights on:
- Importance of costs in decision making. Cost has never been a more important decision-making factor for event organisers, as evidenced by an uptick in sign-ups to Ticket Tailor when Eventbrite introduced their new pricing.
- Flexibility is an essential feature. Event organisers are quickly adopting purchase flexibility, and Ticket Tailor reports that ten times more box offices now accept PayPal Pay Later than at the start of 2023. The firm predicts that ticket-buying flexibility will continue to grow rapidly in 2024, and that cancellation policies will also become more flexible.
- The use of AI for planning. AI tools provide significant value to event organisers, and Ticket Tailor anticipates that creators will continue to use these tools to their advantage, whether to streamline previously complex planning processes, save time, or enhance the impact of their events.
- The strategic importance of sustainability. The firm anticipates that there will be an increase in events that are ‘green’ from birth – with sustainability built in.
- Data-driven decision making. Ticket Tailor expects regular innovations in data use – with it becoming more effective, easier, and faster for event organisers to understand their customers.
- An emphasis on community and loyalty. The firm anticipates that recurring event organisers will continue to use community-building and loyalty-rewarding techniques through 2024, particularly as the in-person events sector thrives post-pandemic.
- Fundraising through events. The firm anticipates a significant increase in donations collected through events in 2024, in response to issues such as sustainability, conflict, and the cost-of-living crisis.
- Leveraging events and products to diversify income. Ticket Tailor anticipates that businesses will continue to develop creative ways to use events to increase their offerings, exploring passions and hobbies to generate increased revenue.
- Developing event partnerships. Throughout 2024, Ticket Tailor expects that venues, event creators, and influential speakers/performers/creatives will develop increasingly imaginative collaborations, allowing event stakeholders to reach new audiences and achieve greater levels of success.
“We think 2024 will be an exciting year for the events world, filled with innovations and experimentation – like fun collabs and creative side hustles,” says the firm.
“Alongside all this, there’ll be quieter, more practical themes – like offering true flexibility for ticket-buyers and using AI to streamline event planning tasks. Sustainability will take on an exciting new gleam, we reckon, with events making bigger, bolder moves towards overhauling their ethos and environmental impact.”
Last month, Ticket Tailor released its 2023 Annual Fireworks Night Report. This report interrogates the data collected from online ticket sales for hundreds of fireworks events using the platform.
