New show is coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Walt Disney World’s upcoming villains show has a name: Disney Villains Unfairly Ever After. The live production opens at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in summer 2025.

The title of Disney’s villains show was revealed during The Wonderful World of Disney: Holiday Spectacular, a televised holiday special aired on 1 December.

Disney Villains Unfairly Ever After will debut in the park’s Sunset Showcase theatre. It will feature appearances by villains including Cruella de Vil, Captain Hook and Maleficent.

The creative team at Disney Live Entertainment will transform the theatre into “the mysterious, reflective realm of the magic mirror”, Disney said in a previous blog post.

To make way for the villains show, Disney’s Hollywood Studios closed its Cars-themed production, Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy, in October.

As for Magic Kingdom’s new villains land, this was announced in August at D23, Disney’s fan event. The land is part of a major Magic Kingdom expansion. It will offer two new attractions, as well as retail and dining experiences.

“Since the beginning, our Disney villains have given us endless possibilities to tell new stories,” said Josh D’Amaro, chairman of Disney’s parks and experiences division, at D23.

“In this new land, you’ll see storytelling on a grand scale that only Disney can deliver.”

Last month, Disney World confirmed a group of evil characters for its new land. “Their evil ambitions give us endless possibilities to tell new stories. This new land will be home to the villains you know and loathe,” said D’Amaro, via Entertainment Weekly.

D’Amaro also teased the land’s storyline: “In our story, a mysterious spell has been cast, summoning villains from every realm. In this land, heroes don’t come to save the day – and there may not be a happily ever after!”

Construction on the villains land is set to start soon.
