PortAventura World invested €10m in the video game and restaurant, part of its collaboration with LaLiga.

PortAventura World has opened the world’s first LaLiga-themed restaurant, called LaLiga TwentyNine’s, and launched an app-based video game called ‘The Beat Challenge’ as part of its partnership with football league LaLiga.

PortAventura World invested €10m in the new restaurant and video game, which conclude the first phase of the park’s collaboration with LaLiga and Kosmos, launched in September 2020.

The project’s second phase, the design and development of a new LaLiga-themed attraction, will receive an investment of €40m. In the final phase, €100m will go towards creating a LaLiga theme park within PortAventura World.

David García, managing director of PortAventura World, said the new offerings “will allow us to connect with new audiences” and “go beyond our physical borders, reaching more people and making it possible to enjoy PortAventura World from anywhere”.

‘The Beat Challenge’ and TwentyNine’s

“PortAventura World is focusing its efforts on developing new entertainment solutions to offer its millions of customers, enhancing their experience in an innovative way,” García added. “In this quest to revolutionise entertainment, LaLiga is a key partner, as a true global leader in sport.”

Named after the year in which LaLiga was founded in Spain (1929), LaLiga TwentyNine’s is spread across 1,000 square metres. It features a space for esports and integrates ‘The Beat Challenge’.

‘The Beat Challenge’ uses augmented reality (AR) and combines physical experiences with the virtual world. It is free on Google Play and the App Store. Users can personalise their experience, create their own avatar and develop their football skills.

“These two projects are a magnificent starting point for the strategic agreement with PortAventura World,” said Javier Tebas, LaLiga president.

“For LaLiga, it is essential to have PortAventura World as a strategic partner, as it is one of the largest holiday destinations in Europe and is a guarantee of success,” Tebas added.
