Universal Orlando has filed paperwork for an expansion project at the new Epic Universe theme park, which opened in May.
Epic Universe is a $7 billion destination at Universal Orlando in Florida. It is one of the most immersive and innovative theme parks ever created.
Fox 35 reports that Universal Orlando has officially filed permits with Orange County for a major expansion project described as “vertical construction” and classified as a shop, warehouse or restaurant.

The project site is located between Epic Universe’s main entrance and Super Nintendo World, with the paperwork suggesting the expansion will be just under 40,000 square feet.
The permits do not contain a timeline for when construction could begin or end.
The project could be a space for special events or seasonal attractions, or a visitor preview centre for future theme park expansions.
New space planned for Epic Universe
Epic Universe already offers rides and attractions, entertainment, and themed dining and retail across five themed worlds, as follows:
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic, Super Nintendo World, How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk, Dark Universe and Celestial Park.

Epic Universe also includes three new hotels – the Universal Helios Grand Hotel, Universal Stella Nova Resort, and Universal Terra Luna Resort.
“Epic Universe represents over eight years of meticulous planning, immense creativity and innovation, combined with unmatched craftsmanship and operational excellence,” said Universal Destinations & Experiences CEO Mark Woodbury during an opening ceremony.
In more news, Universal‘s proposed UK theme park could include the tallest rides in Europe, as revealed in new planning documents.
