Merlin Entertainments is investing in its accommodation offerings, with a medieval-themed hotel coming to Warwick Castle, and new themed rooms opening at Chessington.
Starting with Warwick Castle, the £16.4 million hotel will open on 22 July. Upon entry, guests will be met by an animatronic horse and knight, followed by talking portraits of medieval characters.
The hotel’s exterior resembles a medieval long hall, and each guest room features elements inspired by the Wars of the Roses (1455-1487), like rose motifs, wooden beams and shields.

Warwick Castle already offers lodges and glamping on the grounds, as well as suites in the castle’s 14th century tower.
“Our brand-new hotel immerses guests in Warwick’s rich history whilst also delivering modern luxuries to make the experience even more special,” said Liam Bartlett, general manager at Warwick Castle.
“Our new hotel is also fantastic news for the local visitor economy, ensuring a high-quality offering for overnight visitors to showcase everything that this town has to offer.”
Over at Chessington, the resort has unveiled two new bedrooms in its Safari Hotel – one themed to the Oreo sandwich cookie, and the other inspired by Capri-Sun drinks.

The Oreo-themed room features a round Oreo bed and a bunk bed built from Oreo biscuits, while the Capri-Sun room is a colourful space with a slide and a mini-bar filled with Capri-Sun drinks.
“We’re excited to add these two tasty new hotel bedrooms to the existing themed rooms already at our Safari Hotel,” said Karl Phipp, hotel operations director at Chessington World of Adventures.
“Hopefully families will find them ‘delicious’ and after a day enjoying our theme park and zoo, a stay in a room with your own slide or Oreo-shaped bed simply continues the fun.”
