AZA, the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, has announced that registration is now open for the 2025 Mid-Year Meeting, taking place from 24 – 29 March in Palm Springs, California and hosted by The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens. The event includes a packed line-up of educational sessions and networking events, including expert speakers, working group discussions, workshops and more.
AZA meetings and official events are designed to create an inclusive environment that is welcoming and respectful to all attendees, and all are welcome to join, learn, share, network, and help create a stronger AZA community. By taking part, attendees are helping to advance AZA’s mission to help its members and the animals in their care thrive by providing services advancing animal welfare, public engagement, and wildlife conservation.

AZA also recently announced that it has awarded almost $165,000 to eight projects selected for the 2024 Conservation Grants Fund (CGF). These initiatives advance efforts to save some of the most at-risk species from extinction.
Twenty bids totalling more than $417,000 were submitted. Of these, eight projects from various taxonomic groups and geographical areas were chosen by the CGF Scientific Advisory Committee, following thorough consideration. The selected projects will be carried out by staff from AZA member facilities of all sizes and individual AZA members linked with non-profit organisations, government agencies, and universities.
