Museums and cultural attractions around the world are still facing up to the ongoing challenge of COVID-19, which has had an unprecedented effect on the sector.

According to a recent study by the American Alliance of Museums (AAM) up to 15% of its member institutions are at risk of closing. Yet, there is hope as museums and cultural attractions begin to reopen and to “recover better“.

Tom Zaller is President & CEO of Imagine Exhibitions.

He says, “Imagine Exhibitions are proud to support The Blooloop 50 Museum Influencer list 2021. Museums play a crucial role in our communities and culture and they have just faced a year of incredible challenges.

“The dedication, passion, and resilience that I saw museum leaders demonstrate in this year has no doubt transformed our industry in myriad ways.

“As we are beginning to emerge from a time of crisis, museums must continue to provide safe spaces for dialogue and reflection and collective healing. The influencers on this list represent the strength, creativity, and innovation that is a hallmark of our field, now and as we move into the future.”

Charles Read, MD, Blooloop, says, “It is fantastic to work with our friends at Imagine Exhibitions on our second Blooloop 50 Museum Influencer list. The last 18 months has seen museums face unprecedented challenges due to the pandemic.

“The sector has responded with innovation and creativity. We have seen new collaborations, the accelerated adoption of new technologies, strategies and initiatives and a resolve in the community to learn from the experience.”

Nominations now open

The List will be judged by a panel of industry experts from the nominations submitted by Blooloop readers. The final 50 will be people who have demonstrated creativity and a drive to effect real change in the sector.

To compile the Blooloop 50 Museum Influencer List, we need our readers to nominate who it is they believe deserves inclusion. The most nominated people will then be considered by our judging panel.

Each nomination will be judged entirely on merit, irrespective of location, job title or employer.

You may nominate as many different people as you like. You may even nominate yourself. However, you cannot nominate the same person more than once.

Nominations close 31st August.
