Design approved for Canada Science and Technology Museum Park

The National Capital Commission (NCC) has reportedly given its stamp of approval to the preliminary design for the new Canada Science and Technology Museum Park.

The park is next to the Canada Science and Technology Museum which is currently undergoing a major transformation and will reopen in November.

The vision for the adjacent, and currently underused, green area is a play space infused with technology. The hope is that by encouraging more families to use the facility, it will also encourage them to visit the Museum.

Facilities will include a skateboarding area, a sensory garden, an outdoor theatre and an outdoor gym.

The iconic lighthouse will become the centrepiece of a skating rink in the winter, and an aqua play amenity in the summer.

The museum is actively engaged in capital fundraising to meet the $7 million costs.
