Panasonic Projector & Display Americas LLC, a leading audiovisual technology provider, has entered into a collaboration with Illumibot Inc. Together, the two organisations are launching IllumiBeast, a fleet of co-branded, AI-driven, projection-enabled Cybertrucks.
Under this agreement, Panasonic Projector & Display Americas is sponsoring the initial six IllumiBeasts to provide professional-grade projection mapping directly to brands, venues, events, and audiences across the US.
Accessible, AI-driven technology
With its ability to transform building façades and other surfaces into works of art, the popularity of projection mapping has rocketed as organisations seek to enhance audience engagement.
However, the technology has long been reserved for large-scale productions with significant budgets, specialist technical teams, and fixed venues.
Illumibot aims to reshape this landscape with the global first AI-driven PersonalizedProjection platform. This technology reduces the need for complex mapping software, using a smartphone camera and natural language prompts to detect surfaces, generate visuals, and map projections in seconds.
The comprehensive system opens up access to projection mapping by providing a self-contained, AI-ready, and quick-to-deploy system that is delivered directly to the venue.
By placing projection mapping on wheels, this first-of-its-kind offering enables smaller-scale projects to overcome space, budget, and staffing restrictions.
The vehicles arrive fully equipped with MEVIX laser projection technology, including the PT-MZ20K. This 20,000-lumen 3LCD WUXGA laser projector delivers large-format, high-impact projection experiences on demand.
As IllumiBeast's projection sponsor, MEVIX equips each vehicle with professional-grade projection technology to provide a mobile projection mapping system that any brand, event organiser, or venue can access without specialist staff or a permanent installation.
Celebrating America 250
The IllumiBeast launched in July 2026 to coincide with America's 250th anniversary, and over 31 days is lighting up 31 cities across the country.
Every night throughout the month, the IllumiBeast will visit a different city and project onto the façades of city halls, courthouses, landmarks, and iconic buildings. This tour seeks to bring communities together in celebration of the nation’s anniversary.
Ross Arroyo, founder and CEO of Illumibot Inc., says: "From day one, our mission at Illumibot has been to eliminate the friction that has kept projection mapping out of reach for everyday people.
"By making it as simple as speaking to your phone, we’ve enabled thousands of users to experience the joy of this incredible art form in their homes, businesses, and communities.
"With MEVIX sponsoring our first six IllumiBeast units, we’re thrilled to bring large-scale, professional-grade projection mapping to audiences across America. There's no better stage than America's 250th to show the country what's now possible."
Cities, schools, universities, zoos, parks and recreation, and community organisations can apply to host an IllumiBeast, with those selected receiving the complete projection mapping package at no cost.
Takashi Uchida, CEO, Panasonic Projector & Display Americas, says: "Projection mapping has always been one of the most powerful tools for audience engagement, but has historically required major infrastructure and specialized expertise to pull off.
"We're proud to sponsor the IllumiBeast initiative and equip the fleet with MEVIX projection technology. Launching with America's 250th is exactly the right moment — a national celebration for everyone, powered by innovative technology that’s now more accessible for all to enjoy."
After its July tour, the IllumiBeast fleet is set to expand to six vehicles by fall 2026. This will be available for paid activations, brand campaigns, live events, festivals, sports, retail, and much more.
Earlier this year, Panasonic Projector & Display Corporation acquired 100% of the issued shares of UK-based media technology company HIVE MEDIA CONTROL LTD. This move strengthened its capabilities in media playback and control for immersive and fixed-installation settings.
