Serengeti Flyer is described as the world’s tallest and fastest ride of its kind.

Busch Gardens Tampa Bay in Florida has set an opening date for its latest thrill ride, the Serengeti Flyer pendulum-style swing.

Opening on 27 February, Serengeti Flyer is billed as the world’s tallest and fastest ride of its kind. Riders will soar above Busch Gardens Tampa Bay’s 65-acre Serengeti Plain

Located in the park’s Nairobi area, Serengeti Flyer has twin duelling arms that gradually rise higher and reach speeds of 68 mph and a maximum height of 135 feet at the ride’s peak.

Neal Thurman, park president of Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, said the thrilling ride experience “is bound to provide riders with a pulse-pounding encounter”.

“We believe that Serengeti Flyer will be the perfect high-thrill addition to our world-class portfolio of attractions,” he added.

Serengeti Flyer is similar to Finnegan’s Flyer at Busch Gardens Williamsburg and the Tidal Surge ride at SeaWorld San Antonio.

Busch Gardens Tampa Bay recently opened Iron Gwazi, the world’s fastest and steepest hybrid coaster.

Owned and operated by SeaWorld, Busch Gardens Tampa Bay offers thrill rides, animal encounters and live entertainment.

Earlier this month, SeaWorld announced multiple changes to its leadership team to help it “deliver improved operational and financial results”, said Marc Swanson, SeaWorld CEO.

In November, SeaWorld Orlando unveiled the ride vehicle for its seventh roller coaster, called Pipeline: The Surf Coaster.

SeaWorld’s upcoming rides include DarKoaster at Busch Gardens Williamsburg, Arctic Rescue at SeaWorld San Diego and Catapult Falls at SeaWorld San Antonio.
