New attraction to use 360-degree projections, blockbuster surround sound, and holograms

Luna Park Sydney is launching a new immersive experience called Dream Circus, described as a high-tech attraction “where nothing makes sense”.

The $15 million attraction, which opens on 22 December, uses state-of-the-art technologies such as 360-degree projections, blockbuster surround sound, and holograms.

Located in Luna Park Sydney‘s existing Big Top building, the experience will take visitors on a 45-minute dream-like adventure to the circus and beyond.

Luna Park Sydney says guests will enjoy “multi-layered immersive technologies, 360-degree projections, state-of-the-art audio and hologram technology – unlike anything you’ve ever seen or experienced before”.

Dream Circus was created in Sydney by creative specialists and technicians including Artists in Motion, TDC and Auditoria.

Unlike some other immersive shows which are projected onto flat walls, Dream Circus will be an immersive theatre-style experience with stages.

“We are proud to build for Sydney one of the most technically advanced environments in the country,” said Luna Park CEO John Hughes.

“The result will be a venue without equal – capable of featuring the best immersive experiences, never-before-seen immersive live music and special events.”

“We need to be more than rides”

“As a world-class amusement park we need to be more than rides, and expanding our depth of offering through world-class immersive experiences will mean that Sydneysiders won’t have to travel the globe to experience these incredible environments,” he added. “We want to be a reliable, magical and affordable destination for all generations of Sydneysiders and visitors to our city.”

Luna Park Sydney has also invested A$30 million in nine new rides, including children’s rides, thrill rides and an anchor Intamin coaster, the Big Dipper.

“It’s a different park, and we’re a major player now. To my mind, we’ve set the park up for the next 85 years,” Luna Park’s managing director Peter Hearne told blooloop.
