Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will include a trip to Galaxy’s Edge, as well as lightsaber training and themed F&B.

Disney has shared more information about Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser following a preview event at Walt Disney World, where the immersive attraction opens in 2022.

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, a two-night hotel experience in a galaxy far, far away, will include an outing to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, as well as lightsaber training and F&B.

F&B on the Halcyon starcruiser

The Halcyon ship will serve dishes inspired by Star Wars planets at the Crown of Corellia Dining Room. These include blue bantha butter and blue shrimp from the planet of Felucia.

“This is the high end,” said Scott Trowbridge, Walt Disney Imagineering’s portfolio creative executive (via Star Wars). “This is the ultimate in Star Wars luxury.”

He added: “One of the things I love about how this team has approached this is the level of storytelling. [They] thought about what ingredients would be on board a space cruise ship.”

“What is the fictional supply chain that leads to these dishes?” he said. “I think that level of storytelling is just fantastic, that depth of immersion that we’re doing everywhere.”

The ship’s Sublight Lounge is a stellar space serving cosmic cocktails, including the Hoth Frost and Mooja Twist. The lounge features a working holotable for playing a game of sabacc.

Galactic Starcruiser is not a hotel

“It’s easy for me to say it’s not a hotel, but it takes a little bit more conversation to describe really what it is and what our guests are going to be able to experience,” Trowbridge said during a press panel.

“It is unlike anything that anyone has ever done before,” he added. “This is absolutely a next step in innovation of how immersive we can be.”

Ann Morrow Johnson, executive producer and creative director for the Galactic Starcruiser, described the experience as immersive theatre that features elements of a standard cruise.

First Order or Resistance?

Guests can choose whether they want to join the First Order or the Resistance during their stay on the luxurious Halcyon ship. “It is this giant living ecosystem,” Johnson said.

Anisha Deshmane, assistant producer at Walt Disney Imagineering, asked: “Are you going to help the First Order? Are you going to sell out Chewbacca?”

“At the end of the day, though, this is an epic Star Wars-level story where major things, including lives, are at stake,” Trowbridge added.

“We’re going to play that. We’re going to present that as part of this story.”

The experience includes a trip to Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Passengers will remain in the Star Wars story, boarding special transport ships.

Visitors won’t enter Galaxy’s Edge through the main gates of the theme park. Instead, they will be transported to a new entry point for the Black Spire Outpost on Batuu.

Transformation and role play

The Chandrila Collection, an onboard boutique, will sell attire including Twi’lek headtails and a Togruta’s montrals, as well as a cloak inspired by the outfit worn by Padmé in Attack of the Clones.

“We really took the color inspiration from the original, the pattern from the original,” said Tracie Alt, senior merchandiser.

“We’re really focused on transformation and role play,” said Brad Schoeneberg, VP of brand merchandising. Brand Merchandising. “You get to live out a story here. Who do you want to be? Where are you from?”

Test flights for Galactic Starcruiser

In recent months, Walt Disney World has been carrying out test flights for the experience. “This is my favourite time,” said Sara Thacher, senior R&D Imagineer. “This moment of getting to see it come to life for the first time.”
