Christie, the global visual and audio technology company, has provided 85 laser projectors to Mexican entertainment chain Alboa.

Christie is pleased to announce that its laser projectors are now in use at Alboa Entertainment Halls across Mexico.

Alboa, which is part of the Cinemex Group, provides a range of fun experiences for visitors, including bowling, pool tables, live shows and events, as well as food and drink. It currently has 13 centres in the country with 175 bowling alleys, and seven new centres are also scheduled to open soon. The installation of the new projectors was overseen by T&T Cinema.

Providing a quality experience

Alboa prides itself on providing quality experiences for visitors, meaning that using the right AV technology is key. To improve the image quality, reduce costs and increase efficiency, the chain made the decision to upgrade from Christie lamp-based projectors to laser projectors.

“Besides the fact that laser projection guarantees improved image quality, with up to 20,000 hours of virtually maintenance-free operation it means a considerable cut in running costs and no expenditure in replacing lamps and filters,” says Fernando Poblador, Alboa’s Infrastructure Manager.

Poblador also points out the fact that these projection solutions have more potential: “laser projection gives you the flexibility to ensure high-quality images whatever the available space.”

On choosing Christie, he adds: “Here at Alboa we are always looking to forge alliances with the leading companies in their sector, and Christie, the world’s preeminent projection brand, has always offered us the perfect solution for each of our projects.”

Excellent service

The project included the installation of several models from the Christie GS series, ranging from 5,600 to 13,000 lumens and with resolutions from HD to WUXGA. Alboa opted for the Christie DWU630-GS model in most of its entertainment centres, which has the benefit of built-in Christie BoldColor technology for life-like images and natural colour reproduction.

Each centre uses five projectors on average, to screen sports, music and entertainment, as well as in the bowling area, projecting onto a single screen with a gain of 1.8.

“For Alboa, the post-sales service is perhaps the most important factor in any business arrangement,” says Poblador. “We have always been able to rely on the full support and back-up of Christie Mexico, thanks to which we have built up a very good rapport and a long-term relationship.”

Clayton Brito, Sales Director of Latin America, Enterprise, Christie, says: “We couldn’t be happier with the trust Alboa and the Cinemex Group have placed and continue to place in us. Alboa’s entertainment centres all over Mexico have a reputation for offering their customers an unbeatable entertainment experience.

“We are delighted with the fantastic way that they have been putting our projectors to use in order to enrich their centres with powerful visuals.”

Last month, Christie also announced that it has provided Pandoras Box servers for a state of the art visualisation showcase in Qingdao, China.
