Kraftwerk Living Technologies (KLT), a leading-edge AV systems integrator, is renowned for its work on complex projection, LED and media-based attractions – yet it has also built a strong portfolio of exhibition projects.
The firm has shared some key examples from the last 18 months.
Underwater adventure
XPERIA: Ocean Journey is an immersive walkthrough experience in Tennessee, US. It takes guests on an oceanic adventure using innovative digital technologies and immersive storytelling. KLT implemented the AV in partnership with the client team at SP Immersive Entertainment.
The attraction has 11 immersive scenes that integrate linear, interactive, and 3D media to create engaging underwater environments. They range from a Humboldt squid fight lit with an array of four projectors to a shark chase framed by a 24-display video wall. A spectacular dance of the whales uses three projectors, a semi-cylindrical 3.5m by 14.5m wall and immersive theming.
The visit concludes with an encounter with whales and tuna tornados. Visitors watch this grand finale from a platform on a 180° dome screen, complete with a 16-channel audio system and eight projectors.
Award-winning multi-use space
The House of Digitalization at the Biotech Campus in Austria was unveiled in December 2022. This facility offers a wide variety of digitalisation activities to support small and medium-sized enterprises in Lower Austria. These services are accompanied by a multimedia exhibition, which changes annually and aims to engage audiences of all ages.
For this project, KLT led the installation of cutting-edge audiovisual systems in the showroom and event space, as well as implementing digital features in the lobby, entry area, and media façade. Interactive exhibition elements, artistic interpretations of real-time data, a background with audio and light, and architecture backed by media technology all contribute to the theme of digitalisation, transforming a visit into a complete experience.
The current exhibition, DATA + YOU, features a didactic concept by Austrian company Responsive Spaces.
The venue features an enormous 69m x 4.5 meter 360° LED wall, LED ceiling solution in the foyer, and exterior façade featuring 7 LED display strips between 5m and 17m long. In addition, the exhibition and all media technology-equipped exhibits can be deconstructed and reconstructed in under two hours, ensuring a multifunctional space. KLT’s work on the House of Digitalization was recognised at the 2023 AV Awards, where it was named Venue Project of the Year.
Interactive exhibits
A new visitor attraction, The Original Beer Experience, is spread across all three floors of the old Credit Bank building in historic Prague, Czech Republic. KLT was delighted to be invited by BRC Imagination Arts, a brand experience design company based in Burbank, California, to help the team build this exciting new experience to tell the story of this historic beer.
On the main exhibition floor, which is made up of 10 scenes, KLT installed all of the projection, LCD screens, show and background audio, audioguide system and show lighting fixtures. All of the technology is discreetly integrated into the scenic elements to provide a fully immersive visitor experience. On the top floor, the Tasting Area, KLT installed 22 sqm of 3.1mm Pixel LED split across two LED walls supported by sound reinforcement and show lighting.
Last year also saw the launch of The Infotainment Tirol Experience, a walkthrough which enables guests to explore the Tyrol province in Austria. Kraftwerk Living Technologies has deployed media technology in five scenes to create an interactive attraction that evokes Tyrol’s history, culture, and natural beauty.
The project covers 500 square meters and provides a diverse range of immersive experiences with LED displays, 30 VR experience stations, Pepper’s Ghost holograms, and artistic projections. The experience ends with a spectacular 360-degree room and floor projection.
Immersive dome systems
In addition, Kraftwerk Living Technologies is committed to the continual development of immersive dome systems and focuses on hybrid concepts. The firm has renovated the Traumzeit Dome at Europa-Park in Germany, and refurbished the existing planetarium in Schwarz, Austria. This venue was equipped with innovative dome and projection technologies to create a hybrid space for shared experiences, events, knowledge transfer, and more.
Kevin Murphy, KLT’s senior VP of sales and business development, says: “Whether immersive entertainment, education or business – the hybrid sphere attraction developed by KLT is much more than a classic planetarium, theater or event hall. It is a multimedia tool with countless possible applications and a space-saving solution with potential for use all over the world and in a wide variety of industries.”
The firm’s extensive list of recent projects also includes the equipment of a Virtual Mounting Station for a renowned German automotive brand at its China location.
Kraftwerk Living Technologies (KLT) recently revealed details of some of its latest entertainment projects, including the award-winning Bermuda Storm simulator at Chimelong Spaceship and flying theatres worldwide.
