Qatar University has plans to convert the room where Messi stayed during the sporting event.

Lionel Messi‘s hotel room in Qatar is to be turned into a small museum after the Argentina captain led his team to a World Cup victory against France.

Doha’s Qatar University plans to convert the room where Messi stayed during the sporting event into a small museum (via Khaleej Times).

Many national teams stayed in hotels during the tournament. However, Argentine players and support staff stayed in student halls at Qatar University.

According to reports, Messi was housed in room B201. The night before the final he shared the twin room with Sergio Aguero, an Argentine former professional footballer.

Visitors will discover how Messi spent his time in between matches during the World Cup, the Sun reports.

“The room of Argentina national team player Lionel Messi will remain unchanged and will remain available only for visitors and not for residence, as it will serve as a small museum that will contain all of Messi’s belongings and will be a legacy for students and future generations and a witness to the great achievements Messi has reached during the World Cup,” Hitmi al Hitmi, the director of communications and public relations at Qatar University, told Qatari news outlet Al Sharq (via Sport Bible).

Messi led his team and country to their first World Cup triumph since 1986. He also took home the ‘Player of the Tournament’ honour.

Meanwhile, Manchester City F.C. is considering expanding the Etihad Stadium to offer a fan experience and entertainment and leisure destination.

The club is planning an expanded and covered ‘City Square’ fan zone, home to food and drink outlets, a new club shop and museum, and an onsite hotel.

Earlier this year, Qatar Museums announced plans for three new museums – Art Mill, the Qatar Auto Museum, and the Lusail Museum.

In 2021, Qatar’s first-ever indoor theme park, called Quest, opened with more than 30 rides and attractions at Doha Oasis, a mixed-use development.
