Walt Disney World Resort is launching the new Space 220 restaurant, Epcot‘s out-of-this-world dining experience, in mid-September.

Walt Disney World has revealed its out-of-this-world dining experience, Space 220, will open at Epcot in mid-September. This is another milestone in the historic transformation of Epcot.

Space 220 is located adjacent to the Mission: SPACE attraction. The immersive experience begins as visitors head to the Space 220 departure lounge in Future World.

From there, guests will board one of two Space Elevators that transport them 220 miles above Earth to the Centauri Space Station, looking down on Epcot through a viewport.

Walt Disney Imagineering executive producer Michael Hundgen previously told Blooloop: “You’ll board this hovering spacecraft that allows you to dine literally among the stars and have a great meal with views back down to planet Earth.”

“We’re taking guests into a space elevator,” he added. “You’ll actually see Walt Disney World as you’re going up in the elevator. There’s stuff hovering in space, so you’ll see some of those elements fly in and out as you dine.”

Once docked, visitors will travel through the Centauri Space Station-themed dining area, which offers a panoramic view of Earth.

Space 220’s restaurant menu will feature “stellar dishes and gourmet recipes”, according to Imagineering’s Walt Disney World site portfolio executive Zach Riddley.

There will be a two-course prix fixe menu for lunch and a three-course prix fixe menu for dinner, and unique beverages will range from “fine wine to atmospheric cocktails”.

Riddley added: “The Space 220 restaurant is another big milestone in the ongoing and historic transformation happening now at Epcot, and will be a part of the celebration of the Walt Disney World Resort 50th anniversary.”

Last month, Walt Disney World shared a behind-the-scenes video of its new nighttime show Harmonious at Epcot. It is one of the largest shows ever created for a Disney park and replaces Illuminations: Reflections of Earth.

Harmonious will debut on October 1 as part of the launch of ‘The World’s Most Magical Celebration‘, marking the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World Resort.
