P&P Projects, a provider of turnkey design-build services for themed entertainment and leisure experiences, has shared its review of its 2024 milestones and successes. These include innovation and growth across the company’s design, engineering, and production departments, as well as the launch of its new subdivision focused on animatronics and animated figures.
2024 was a significant year in P&P Projects’ history and is reflected in its completed, current, and upcoming projects. These demonstrate the company’s continuous innovation in immersive experience design and production for diverse applications, elevating visitor attractions to a level that reflects the demands of today’s themed entertainment industry.
Celebrating 35 years
During 2024, P&P Projects operated both internationally and in its home country, the Netherlands.
Doloris Anoma Maze in Utrecht, Netherlands, launched in the spring and is a unique addition to P&P Projects’ portfolio. This innovative art maze enthrals visitors and immerses them in seemingly impossible worlds. With more than 70 rooms, the experience is uplifting and bold, inviting guests to greater heights of curiosity and discovery. P&P Projects led the project’s creative development and overall production, including show sets, interiors, scenic theming components, AVL, and special effects.
At the beginning of the summer, P&P Projects previewed its brand-new production facility in Asten, Netherlands. Following growth in its projects and teams, this new workshop takes the company into the next phase of its ongoing production capacity expansion.
The company officially celebrated its 35th anniversary in midsummer. In honour of this milestone, P&P Projects released a brand-new film highlighting its design-build expertise.
Rick Spring in ‘t veld, lead business development at P&P Projects, says: “As a steadfast partner for the themed entertainment industry for these past 35 years, there’s obviously an abundance of world-class projects in our past – and present (and future!). We enjoy sharing these with great pride to showcase our abilities as a company; in a way, they speak for themselves.
“Still, we had the desire to encompass that feeling of ambitious quality, creativity and craftsmanship through showing our most important asset; our team. The people that make it work. Lifting the curtain just a little bit into their workplace; our modern facilities. We feel this new company film does just that.
“New ventures and innovations move at a great speed here at P&P Projects, so we will be sure to update our company film as we go along. This way we will always be able to provide an inspiring look at where the company stands; today, tomorrow, and in the coming years. It’s exciting.”
At IAAPA Expo Europe in September, P&P Projects formally introduced ThemedMotion, an in-house subdivision focused on the turnkey development of animatronics and advanced animated figures. It unveiled the first official ThemedMotion show model, “Mormel,” a sophisticated animatronic character, that charmed visitors to the P&P Projects booth.
ThemedMotion’s methodology distinguishes itself by utilising a bespoke control system that enables remote performance monitoring. In addition, this approach focuses on easy maintenance and seamless integration with show sets, which has been P&P Projects’ specialism for the past 35 years.
With numerous projects now in development, the first official ThemedMotion products will be available in the themed entertainment landscape soon.
Captivating experiences for land and sea
War Museum Overloon opened D-DEX in the autumn, continuing the run of P&P Projects’ new immersive experiences in the Netherlands. At this attraction, visitors are transported back to the Normandy beaches in 1944, as World War II was coming to a close.
P&P Projects oversaw the overall design development of this experience. This entailed developing the initial concept in partnership with War Museum Overloon and fine-tuning the visitor journey while maintaining core principles such as authenticity, education, and emotion. This was followed by production, with show sets, scenic finishes, AVL, media integration, and special effects, created by the P&P Projects team. Together, these elements produce an authentic and emotionally resonant museum experience.
Both D-DEX and Doloris Anoma Maze demonstrate the importance of immersive experience design and how it can enhance the visitor experience, whether historical, artistic, or story-driven. This versatility is further demonstrated by P&P Projects’ contributions to themed cruise lines.
As part of an ongoing multi-year development, several of the company’s themed projects have set sail and are captivating passengers, and span immersive themed environments, scenic works, and on-sea attractions. This collaboration is set to continue in the coming year, with the creation of new, captivating sea-faring experiences.

These will be organically integrated with Mexican heritage and the resort’s natural landscaping. Production has begun on several of the announced developments, and P&P Projects will provide its design-build expertise to bring these captivating worlds to life.
2025 is set to be another notable year for P&P Projects as work continues on numerous large-scale projects, some of which will open during the coming season. Further information will be released soon.
