Katapult, the international guest experience design agency, has been appointed to work on another IP-based themed attraction project in East Anglia, adding to its established list of projects inspired by internationally renowned characters and intellectual properties.
ROARR!, the UK’s leading dinosaur-themed adventure park, has outlined plans to grow in 2024 with a brand-new four-acre interactive play-themed area based on the worldwide acclaimed Netflix, Tiny Pop, and Disney+ smash series, Gigantosaurus.
Gigantosaurus Land was created to actively foster new inquisitive and sensory family play experiences. Guests will be able to interact with amazing new interactive concepts featuring numerous show favourites such as Rocky, Bill, Mazu, and Tiny.
The expansion will feature spinning floral teacups, refreshing water play, a jumping pillow, and a towering wooden play ‘n’ climb cave, headlined by a volcano-themed vertical drop ride.
A smaller play area for younger explorers will also be built, where kids can speed down a slide fashioned of Giganto’s very own scales.
Phil Higgins, Katapult’s co-founder and chief creative officer says: “We are thrilled to be working with ROARR! to design the vision and master plan for the park expansion. It has been a great opportunity for us to bring our experience of working with both global IPs and UK attractions, to design a truly immersive and interactive new land with family fun at its heart.”
Cartoon Network
Following the announcement of Katapult’s appointment on Gigantosaurus Land, Cartoon Network World Kuwait officially opened its doors. Katapult conceived and produced a 3,000sqm immersive experience with dynamic simulator rides and physical play activities in collaboration with operator Future Kid.
The Cartoon Network’s most popular IPs, including Ben 10, Adventure Time, The Amazing World of Gumball, We Bare Bears, and The Powerpuff Girls, have also been brought to life at the FEC, which debuted in October.
LEGO
As part of The LEGO Group’s global Rebuild the World campaign, Katapult collaborated with eight of Merlin Entertainments’ LEGOLAND Parks around the world to introduce guests to an amazing new brand activation, PLANET LEGOLAND, an experience in which guests can build, unbuild, and rebuild their dream theme park. This hands-on brick experience for children and parents has helped to uncover the creative potential of guests.
Ferrari
The Ferrari Experience is a media-based attraction that includes immersive simulator rides, an esports adrenalin centre, and exclusive themed dining experiences for the entire family. The Ferrari Experience will also feature a frictionless, connected experience using cutting-edge guest experience technology. Ferrari and Katapult have also collaborated with Simworx, a global pioneer in the provision of immersive simulation attractions and dark rides.
Katapult maintains working partnerships with many of the world’s most known IPs, such as The LEGO Group and Ferrari, solidifying its position as one of the industry’s most trusted themed attraction design businesses. Its recent success has resulted in an expansion of its staff, with Andy Sinclair-Harris, a former Disney Imagineer and seasoned experience designer, joining Katapult as creative director.
He, alongside Dawn Foote and Phil Higgins, as well as Unreal designer Daniel Childs and project producer Alex Tyrrell, will be representing Katapult in Orlando. The team will be available at Booth #1061 to provide additional information on its prior IP-based themed attractions and how they can assist operators with future projects.
