Highlights include suspended botanical gardens and cascading pools

Therme Group is taking its destinations to Dubai with the new Islands in the Sky attraction, billed as an oasis in the sky and the world’s tallest wellness resort.

Designed by renowned architects Diller Scofidio + Renfro, Therme Dubai – Islands in the Sky will be located in Zabeel Park. With capacity to welcome 1.7 million annual visitors, the wellness resort will span 500,000 square feet with a 100-metre-tall structure.

Highlights in the new attraction will include botanical gardens suspended from the air, stacked terraces, and cascading pools where guests can enjoy restorative thermal and mineral waters.

“Elevated high above the concerns of everyday urban life, Therme Dubai is an oasis in the sky. It emerges from the lake of a revitalized Zabeel Park as a series of botanical islands stacked into a tower. Each island is a platform for thermal pools, decks, and verdant indoor and outdoor vegetation; each offers a distinctive atmosphere; and each is oriented toward the dramatic view of the Dubai skyline,” said Elizabeth Diller, founding partner of Diller Scofidio + Renfro.

“Guests are immersed in unique environments – warm and cool, wet and dry, the intense heat of saunas and steam rooms and the ambient temperature of thermal pools and cool mineral pools. By day, the atmosphere is contemplative and relaxing. By night, the spaces come alive with music, artistic performances and events.”

Therme Dubai will utilise Therme Group‘s cutting-edge sustainable innovations and technologies to minimise environmental impact. The resort will recycle 90 percent of the water used in its thermal pools, and 80 percent of the fresh air and cooling needs will be met through clean energy sources.

Also, the project will implement smart resource management and advanced energy-efficient systems to ensure a small environmental footprint.

“Dubai is a city that understands the future must be built with wellbeing at its core. This partnership brings together two forces driving that future: Dubai’s bold vision for urban planning and Therme Group’s commitment to redefining urban wellbeing through innovation. Together, we are creating more than a destination,” said Robert Hanea, founder and CEO of Therme Group.

Therme Dubai – Islands in the Sky

“We are shaping how cities can integrate nature, water, and culture to elevate quality of life at scale. Therme Dubai – Islands in the Sky will stand as a global model for what’s possible when ambition and expertise align.”

Irina Matei, CEO of Therme Dubai, said cities “must evolve to enhance human wellbeing, connection, and environmental harmony”.

“This collaboration is more than a development—it’s a new way of thinking about cities and their role in shaping a healthier future for all,” Matei added.

The development of Therme Dubai – Islands in the Sky has been approved by Dubai’s crown prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed.

Construction on the wellness project is scheduled to start next year, with completion anticipated by 2028.
