The online store will offer products inspired by artworks at major museums across the globe.

ARTiSTORY, a specialist in art and cultural intellectual property (IP) licensing, is launching its first retail platform, ARTiSTORY Collections.

The online store will sell branded products inspired by artworks at major museums and cultural institutions across the globe.

On offer will be apparel and accessories, gifts and stationary, and homeware from museums including the National Gallery in London, Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts, and the Brooklyn Museum in New York.

Natasha Dyson, co-founder and licensing director at ARTiSTORY, said the company is “incredibly privileged to hold global licensing rights to the collections of many leading cultural organisations in the world”.

ARTiSTORY Collections

ARTiSTORY, in collaboration with its museum partners, develops “contemporary, trend-driven designs inspired by their collections”, Dyson said.

“Far from being ‘paintings slapped on souvenirs’, the store offers shoppers thoughtfully designed lifestyle products that resonate with all ages,” she added.

The latest collections include three new themes – ‘Mythical Wonderland’, ‘Around the World’, and ‘Modern Mix Up’.

Mythical Wonderland is inspired by paintings of Roman and Greek goddesses at the Museum of Fine Arts and National Gallery, as well as artifacts from the Benaki Museum in Athens.

Around the World includes John Singer Sargent’s maritime paintings (Brooklyn Museum) and Caneletto’s Venetian paintings (Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum, Madrid).

Art and cultural IP licensing

Modern Mix Up is based on some of the most famous artists of the 20th century, including works by Mondrian and Kandinsky (Centre Pompidou, Paris).

The company’s evergreen theme, ‘Gathering of the Greats’ has been refreshed to offer new products inspired by Vincent van Gogh, Albrecht Dürer, Claude Monet and Leonardo da Vinci.

In addition, ARTiSTORY is working with Jinjiang Group to launch a themed hotel room using IP from the historic Chinese city of Dunhuang. The companies are also creating various location-based entertainment (LBE) events.

Yizan He, co-founder and CEO at ARTiSTORY, said an increasing number of cultural institutions “recognise the potential of art and cultural IP licensing to not only boost revenue and sales, but to bring people around the world truly unique products and experiences that inspire and delight them”.
