Beaulieu Creative, a company that creates fully customisable floor and wall solutions for the attractions industry, has brought an Inca-themed playground to life in a fresh collaboration with Leicon, one of Belgium’s leading indoor play equipment manufacturers. This partnership has resulted in a design that not only sparks children’s imagination but also captivates the adults who bring them there.
This project showcases how Beaulieu Creative incorporates layered storytelling into physical spaces, designed for both children and parents.
Designing for two audiences, one space
The Leicon project operates on two levels, quite literally. The flooring is designed to captivate children with bright colours, playful patterns, and a labyrinth that encourages exploration. It is made from durable, safe, and soft materials to ensure comfort while kids are active.
In contrast, the walls were created with parents in focus. While they sit, observe, and wait, they are enveloped by photorealistic images of ancient Inca temples. This setting is soothing, atmospheric, and rich, offering tranquillity, awe, and a sense of quality.
This isn’t just play; it’s a themed experience designed to enhance the entire visit.
Beaulieu Creative assisted throughout the process- from initial design talks to final prepress and production—utilising its swift delivery, strong industrial foundation, and design knowledge to produce a ready-to-display outcome in Leicon’s primary showroom.
“We’re stepping away from industrial-looking playgrounds,” says Jan Hosten, owner of Leicon and Conquesta. “This project creates a real atmosphere—it’s clearly the future.”
Ildiko Czvek, founder of Beaulieu Creative, adds: “Too often, play areas are designed with a single audience in mind. Here, we created something layered: active, playful floors for kids and immersive, aesthetic walls for the adults. It’s about more than decoration—it’s about designing mood and memory.”
Beaulieu Creative’s approach is grounded in behavioural design and spatial strategy. Its goal is to shape spaces that work harder for operators, for guests, and for the bottom line.
Earlier this month, Beaulieu Creative shared details of a recent project at AREA 53, a high-energy indoor activity park in Belgium, where the firm has helped to rethink the environment around food & beverage.
