Rainbow Productions, a leading character events company and mascot manufacturer, has announced that it won three awards at the Merton Best Business Awards 2022 which took place on 28 September. This was organised by the Merton Chamber of Commerce to celebrate business excellence amongst its 700 members.
Merton Chamber of Commerce has the largest member base of all the London-based Chambers, and those celebrated during the event, held at the All England Lawn Tennis Club, came from a wide range of sectors, from construction and surveying to well-being, fitness, teaching, retail and more.
Rainbow was nominated for Best Creative Business and Best Independent Business and went on to win both categories. The company also won The 2022 Merton Best Business Award, which recognised local businesses that have continued to innovate and provide excellent service throughout the pandemic.
Three awards for Rainbow
During COVID, the company took the time to reorganise its strategies and invest in new technology, and in 2021 it was then able to produce more than 750 costumes, shipped to over 16 countries.
Simon Foulkes, managing director of Rainbow Productions, says: “What a night! And, after a truly challenging period, what a year! I am proud on behalf of everyone connected in any way with Rainbow that we have won these three awards – and particularly the 2022 Merton Best Business Award. This is a team award and a tribute richly deserved by an extraordinary and talented group of people who kept on going through the hardest of times to make us even more of a force in the costumer character business. My sincerest thanks – and congratulations – to you all!”
Rainbow has been operating from the London Borough of Merton for more than three decades, transforming from a small events company to a world leader in manufacturing bespoke costume character mascots.
The firm is the UK’s official supplier of some of the world’s favourite licensed children’s characters, including Peppa Pig, Paddington and The Wombles. It is an approved mascot manufacturer for some of the biggest film, production and licensing studios including NBC Universal, Warner Brothers, BBC, Paramount and Disney.
Rainbow has even supplied mascots for special events like the Queen’s Jubilee Pageant Parade, the Olympic Games Opening and Closing Ceremonies, the Oxford Street Christmas Light Switch-on and Glastonbury Festival. Its products delight fans in theme parks, shopping malls, schools, charity events, and football pitches across the globe. To date, it has made mascots for 85 of England’s 92 professional football clubs.
Rainbow Productions recently showcased a range of characters at IAAPA Expo Europe. The amusement industry event was also held at ExCeL London this month and welcomed over 11,000 registered attendees.
