ECP shares new resources & celebrates opening of new Frankenthaler Climate Initiative grant cycle

Environment and Culture Partners (ECP), a non-profit organisation dedicated to strengthening and broadening the environmental leadership of the cultural sector, has shared a new video produced by partner America is All In, the largest coalition of climate action leaders in the United States.

America is All In unites all levels of government and various sectors in recognising their crucial roles in creating a better climate future. Museums, zoos, aquariums, gardens, historic sites, and more are addressing climate change by cutting down carbon emissions, fostering hope and resilience in a changing climate, and raising awareness among their peers and communities.

Working together based on shared values, ECP supports these efforts across the sector, and this video from America is All In showcases how cultural institutions can drive positive change.

“If your institution is doing this work — energy efficiency / clean energy efforts, community climate resilience, climate programming and exhibits — we hope you’ll share your story,” says ECP.

“America Is All In has helped us provide the toolkit below to make this easier. If you tag ECP and All In, we will amplify your social media posts on our channels so your peers and supporters can see your example. And between your organization, ECP, and All In, together, we can get your story to an extensive audience, empowering your peers and inspiring communities.”

The toolkit is available here.

Application cycle for the Frankenthaler Climate Initiative now open

The Helen Frankenthaler Foundation has announced that the fifth application cycle of the Frankenthaler Climate Initiative (FCI) opens today, Wednesday 15 January.

The FCI is the largest private national grant programme dedicated to climate action within the visual arts. It equips organisations with the essential funding and resources required to evaluate and execute clean energy and energy efficiency initiatives. Since its inception in 2021, this $15 million initiative has advanced 244 projects across 200 US art museums, art schools, and non-collecting arts organisations.

The FCI is overseen by the Helen Frankenthaler Foundation in collaboration with RMI, a prominent global clean energy nonprofit, alongside the team at Environment & Culture Partners. An informative webinar for prospective applicants is scheduled for Thursday 23 January. Click here to sign up for the webinar and learn more about the 2025 grant program.

Last year, ECP was awarded an Institution of Museum and Library Sciences (IMLS) National Leadership Grant. This funding will support the organisation’s research project, Min/Max: The Relationship Between Energy, Carbon, and T/RH Parameters in Collecting Institutions, which is in partnership with New Buildings Institute (NBI).
