New surf park is being developed for the Middle East

Bahrain Surf Park has broken ground, with construction now underway on Bahrain’s southwest coast ahead of the scheduled opening next year.

Located in the Bilaj Al Jazayer development, the new park is created by Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company’s real estate arm Edamah and GFH Financial Group.

Bahrain Surf Park – Club Hawaii Experience includes a world-class wave pool, F&B outlets, a retail store, cabanas, an event space, and a private entertainment area for corporate or school groups.

Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, CEO of Mumtalakat and chairman of Edamah, said the new attraction “reflects Bahrain’s vision to invest in innovative developments aimed at enhancing the tourism and entertainment sectors”.

He added, “It also aligns with Edamah’s mission to deliver integrated and sustainable communities that enhance the quality of life in the Kingdom of Bahrain.”

Khaled Abdulrahman Al Majed, CEO of Edamah, said: “In addition to positioning the kingdom as a global destination for entertainment and leisure, it will create new opportunities for economic growth and the employment of national talent, supporting Bahrain’s vision to lead through innovation.”

Bahrain Surf Park is the first surf park in the Middle East and North Africa to use state-of-the-art Wavegarden Cove technology, which produces up to 1,000 waves per hour for a world-class surfing experience.

Hisham Alrayes, CEO of GFH Financial Group, said the surf park “represents a milestone addition to Bahrain’s tourism landscape, offering a unique surfing experience for all levels within the unique atmosphere of the Club Hawaii Experience brand, which encapsulates the spirit of Hawaii, the birthplace of modern surfing”.
