Semmel Exhibitions, a creator of award-winning blockbuster exhibitions, is celebrating the ongoing success of Tutankhamun: His Tomb and His Treasures – An Immersive Adventure. After a remarkable run in Prague, Czech Republic, and continued success at the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, USA, the exhibition has now opened new units in Cologne, Germany, and Bratislava, Slovakia.
TUTANKHAMUN: His Tomb and His Treasures - An Immersive Adventure goes beyond traditional museum displays. It immerses visitors in Ancient Egypt, vividly recreating one of the most remarkable archaeological finds using advanced technology and detailed reconstructions.
Curator and Egyptologist Dr Wolfgang Wettengel says: "For the first time, the life and death of Tutankhamun, along with the discovery of his tomb and its unique treasures, can be experienced in such depth and intensity in an exhibition."
Bringing Ancient Egypt to life
Tutankhamun ascended to the throne in 1332 or 1333 BC at age 9 as one of the last 18th Dynasty kings. His father was the heretic King Akhenaten; his mother's name is unknown. His main achievement was rejecting his father’s radical religious reforms that destabilised Egypt.
Tutankhamun died after nine years, likely from an infection after an open knee injury. Recent studies suggest he may have had serious illnesses.
The discovery of King Tutankhamun’s tomb in 1922 by Howard Carter revealed an unprecedented trove of treasures, including royal jewellery, sacred artefacts, ancient weapons, musical instruments, and the Golden Mask.
To this day, Tutankhamun’s legacy still captivates millions worldwide, though many original artefacts have been lost over the years.
TUTANKHAMUN: His Tomb and His Treasures - An Immersive Adventure aims to preserve this unique cultural heritage in its original form through meticulously crafted, authentic replicas. This exhibit offers the only chance to experience the Pharaoh’s treasures exactly as they were discovered.
