Area15, the immersive entertainment district in Las Vegas, has announced that construction has begun on its new 20-acre site expansion. The 36-foot walls are now being raised for the new development, covering an area to the north of the site along Interstate 15.
Horror Unleashed, a brand-new, year-round horror entertainment attraction from Universal Destinations & Experiences, will serve as the centrepiece, alongside the newest vertical wind-tunnel technology from iFLY Indoor Skydiving, with more tenants and partnerships yet to be announced.
The expansion lies beyond the main building complex, which is well-known for its iconic immersive experiences like Meow Wolf‘s Omega Mart, Illuminarium, Five Iron Golf, and Wink World. Area15 is now looking for new partners as it continues to offer top-notch immersive experiences, attractions, carefully chosen retail, distinctive entertainment, F&B, and more
Experiential entertainment destination continues to grow
The new development will comprise over 450,000 square feet of adaptable food and beverage and retail space with a variety of building types and tenant leasing options ranging from 1,000 to 60,000 square feet. This includes a standalone building totalling more than 110,000 square feet, housing the centrepiece experience from Universal.
In addition, a scrapped Boeing 747 aircraft will be used as an event area, and more than 85,000 square feet will be devoted to pop-ups and outdoor experiences. The enlarged district’s future tenants will have the chance to design unique storefront concepts that will enhance Area15’s dynamic, immersive environment, as customers continue to favour immersive retail experiences.
“Today we raise the walls on our next exciting incarnation, which will enable AREA15 to bring more best-of-class experiential entertainment to Las Vegas and the global audiences who travel here every year,” says Winston Fisher, chief executive officer.
“Consumers continue to gravitate toward artful new forms of entertainment providing immersive experiences, authentic connections and real emotions. The demand continues to grow, and we are ready to dive into this substantial expansion and find more partnerships that will have a lasting impact on the AREA15 District and the City of Las Vegas.”
Area15 welcomed over three million visitors last year. It was the most-visited attraction in the US, according to data from Placer.ai.
