Shanghai Disneyland‘s cast members are now testing the new experiences

Shanghai Disneyland has announced that it is preparing to open the world’s first Zootopia-themed land on 20 December.

The eighth themed land at Shanghai Disneyland is a colourful and immersive world inspired by the Walt Disney Animation Studios film Zootopia (2016).

The theme park‘s new addition brings to life the film and its characters through Disney’s signature storytelling and groundbreaking technology.

Guests will experience innovative entertainment, themed merchandise, new food and beverage offerings, and a major attraction called Zootopia: Hot Pursuit.

Set after the events of the film, the new ride takes visitors on a thrilling chase through Zootopia’s different districts on all-terrain cruisers powered by a trackless ride system.

F&B outlets in the upcoming land include Jumbeaux’s Cafe, an ice cream parlor and café owned by Jerry Jumbeaux, Jr. For Shanghai Disney Resort, the eatery has been adapted to welcome animals of all sizes.

Dishes on offer in Zootopia include paw-shaped popsicles, chocolate marshmallows based on the film’s Jumbo-pop, donuts in two different sizes for small and large animals, and carrot-shaped lollipops.

As for retail, Fashions by Fru Fru is owned by Fru Fru the arctic shrew. Polar bear Koslov, a member of the Tundratown mafia, is guarding the shop’s main entrance.

The store will sell more than 200 products – many of which were designed exclusively for the land – including headwear, apparel and accessories based on characters such as Judy Hopps, Nick Wilde, Flash and Clawhauser.

Per a press release, Shanghai Disneyland’s cast members are now testing all of the experiences in Zootopia.

Shanghai Disney Resort is a joint venture between the Walt Disney Company and Shanghai Shendi Group.

In more news, Shanghai Disney has started building its third themed hotel. Additionally, Shanghai Disneyland is one of the first official trial sites in China for the country’s new ‘smart tourism’ initiative.
