Paultons Park in Hampshire, UK is creating a new £12 million Viking-themed land called Valgard – Realm of the Vikings, set to open in 2026.
The new Viking-themed land is Paultons Park’s largest investment to date and will house the theme park’s first inverted roller coaster.
Named Drakon, the new coaster will be Paultons Park’s most thrilling ride, providing a vertical lift hill and two upside-down twists.
Valgard will also include the new Vild Swing by ART Engineering, an amusement ride manufacturer that develops roller coasters, dark rides, carousels, water rides and more.
For Valgard, Paultons Park’s Cobra coaster will be rebranded and renamed Raven.
Additionally, Valgard will feature a themed restaurant and a new playground for younger guests.
“Valgard promises an immersive, atmospheric, and action-packed experience for families and has been specifically designed to grow with our fans,” said James Mancey, deputy managing director at Paultons Park.
Paultons Park’s largest investment to date
“The introduction of inversions and a vertical lift hill on Drakon certainly up the adrenaline levels at Paultons Park, but staying true to our roots, we haven’t forgotten about the little ones and there is something for all of the family in our new Viking village.”
In 2027, Paultons Park will add another major thrill ride to Valgard. Currently, the park is only revealing it will be a water experience.
On Saturday (17 May), Paultons Park also opened its new Ghostly Manor indoor ride. The attraction features interactive gameplay via a Phantom Phaser in a family-friendly supernatural world of eerie apparitions and haunted artefacts.
Riders can use the Phantom Phaser to capture and contain mischievous ghosts and misbehaving spirits through haptic technology and LED lights.
“We have worked with the very best technical and theming experts in the attractions business to create Ghostly Manor,” Mancey said.
“Our teams and partners have done a remarkable job at creating our very own haunted house, brimming with entertaining paranormal activity.”
With the addition of Valgard, Paultons Park will be home to more than 80 rides and attractions across six themed lands.
“As an independent, family-owned theme park, we’re incredibly proud of the investments we make to deliver the very best guest experience,” said Mancey.
