Legoland Korea Resort has officially opened, with the new attraction in Chuncheon, South Korea welcoming 10,000 visitors on Children’s Day (5 May).
Covering an area of 28,000 square metres, Legoland Korea Resort is home to the Legoland park with 40 rides and attractions across seven lands, as well as the 154-room Legoland Hotel.
Themed lands in the theme park are Brick Street, Bricktopia, Lego Castle, Lego Ninjago World, Pirates Shore, Lego City and Miniland.
“Legoland Korea is the perfect destination for kids and families, it is greatly meaningful to open our theme park on Children’s Day,” said Phil Royle, divisional director of Legoland Korea.
“It will be the best theme park for anyone looking for an authentic Lego experience. We do hope everyone who came on the first day of the opening will have an unforgettable and enjoyable experience.”
World’s 10th Legoland attraction

Rides and attractions include the Dragon Coaster and Driving School, as well the Lego Factory Adventure Ride, which was only on offer at Legoland New York until the launch of Legoland Korea.
Legoland Korea Resort, the world’s 10th Legoland attraction, is the first Legoland resort to be built on an island. With room to expand, it could become one of the largest in the Legoland portfolio.
“We have aspirations to grow,” Ray Dubois, Merlin’s director of projects for Asia, told blooloop. “Legoland California, which is our most highly-attended park, took 20 years to get to where it’s at today.”
“In the old days, we would add a new ride, now we are adding in clusters,” he added. “Ninjago World is a good example, where you add two, three or four attractions together. All of a sudden you get quite significant bumps in attendance.”
Elsewhere, Legoland Florida Resort has become the first theme park resort to earn a Certified Autism Center (CAC) designation.
