Media-based attraction specialist Triotech has been selected to design and build an interactive dark ride for the upcoming Vinpearl Land theme park in Phú Quốc, Vietnam.
Opening in spring 2020, Dragon’s Spell is being delivered on a turnkey basis by the Canadian company and represents its first project of this kind in the country. As part of its agreement with Vinpearl, Triotech will provide the attraction’s storyline, characters, environments, gameplay, queue line, pre-show and ride area.
“Being involved from the beginning for such a major project allows us to design and deliver a complete attraction that optimises immersion and interactivity,” says Ernest Yale, Triotech’s founder, president and CEO. “This allows us to focus on the guest experience. We want to accept no compromise.”
Wide range of effects
Dragon’s Spell will feature seven ride scenes and two pre-shows. Special effects will include animatronics, fog, directional audio, wind, plus special lighting effects. The attraction will also use Triotech’s proprietary illusio interactive projection mapping technology to bring the scenic theming to life. A pair of illusio walls will bookend one particular scene, creating a continuous interactive experience for the ride’s passengers.
The ride system will feature 18 four-seater vehicles, operating in trains of two. Each pair will travel over a 106-metre long single rail track. The attraction’s hourly capacity is over 800.
Vinpearl’s latest and greatest resort
The new theme park on the tropical island of Phú Quốc will be the latest of three Vinpearl Lands operating in Vietnam. It is part of a wider resort from the Vingroup, stretching along the most pristine beach of the island. The tourist development will also include a Vinpearl Safari, 18-hole golf course, international convention centre and a large theatre.
Triotech made a name for itself in the attractions industry with its XD Dark Ride interactive theatres. In recent years, it has also enjoyed success with larger projects including several award-wining interactive dark rides and a flying theatre concept called The Flyer.
