The roll-out of ImmotionVR Centres continues apace with the opening of a new location at intu St. Davids in Cardiff.
The shopping centre chain has also committed to a further three ImmotionVR Centres at intu Derby, intu Eldon Square, Newcastle and intu Uxbridge.
“Virtual reality has such exciting potential within our portfolio of some of the UK’s most popular shopping destinations where it could one day become as commonplace as stopping for a coffee with friends,” observes Roger Binks, Customer Experience Director at intu.
These new locations swell the number of outlets owned and operated by the out-of-home entertainment company, Immotion Group, to seven, in addition to those operated by concession partners.

Halloween and Christmas themed experiences planned
intu visitors will be able to enjoy a broad range of experiences including Delta Zero which launched in August 2018. According to Immotion, more new experiences are lined up for later this year, including seasonal themed experiences for both Halloween and Christmas. These will be distributed to all outlets via the Group’s proprietary Content Management System.
Most of the intu outlets will be centre-aisle attractions although Cardiff St Davids’ has opened as a shop. Here, visitors will be able experience the latest Immotion racing car simulators, as well as the VR cinema pods and guns.
“We are incredibly excited to be working with intu to expand our portfolio of ImmotionVR outlets,” comments Martin Higginson, CEO of Immotion Group.
“Riding on the success of our existing VR centres, this roll-out will positively impact our revenues. We look forward to bringing more high quality VR experience centres to more consumers across the UK, many of whom are trying VR for the first time, in the coming months.”
Elsewhere, the company’s existing outlet in the Manchester Arndale has proved such a hit with customers, it is set to be relocated to a more prominent position within the shopping mall.
