Legoland Shanghai Resort, China’s first Legoland Resort and the largest Legoland park to date, opened on Saturday 5 June in Fengjing Town, Jinshan District.
Spanning 318,000 square metres, the new theme park and hotel feature eight lands with over 75 rides, shows, and attractions, as well as thousands of Lego models built from more than 85 million bricks. Offering adventures and play, the new resort was created by 10,000 workers and 300 teams from 15 countries, combining creativity, engineering, and innovation.
The grand opening included music, dancing, appearances from Legoland characters, and performers in colourful costumes. It was attended by officials from Shanghai and Jinshan, Merlin Entertainments, The Lego Group, New Jinshan Investment Group, the resort’s Kid Reporters, and guests.
To mark the grand opening, Legoland Shanghai Resort will host Grand Opening Week from 5 – 13 July. Guests can enjoy themed decorations, immersive experiences, exclusive offers, daily shows, meet-and-greets with Lego characters, minifigure swaps, merchandise, discounts, and Lego treats.
The first Legoland Resort in China

Eight themed lands
During the grand opening, Legoland Shanghai Resort unveiled exclusive attractions. Guests can experience the live theatre featuring the premiere of the Lego Monkie Kid show, and on the world’s first water-town style boat tour, they can cruise through a 25x scale Lego Chinese water town and Shanghai cityscapes, all built from Lego bricks.
The resort also debuts Legoland Creative World, a place for creativity, home to Dada, where guests can take a picture with the largest Lego minifigure in history.
New to the resort, Brick Street and Bricktopia! are top Lego destinations with decorations, models, and performances. In the Lego Ninjago-themed land, thrill-seekers can enjoy rides like Lego Ninjago The Ride, Jay’s Gravity Force, and Kai’s Sky Master. For younger guests, Lego City offers activities like the Driving School and firefighting rescues.
The Lego Friends land features activities such as jet ski rides at the Water Race Challenge, wave gliding at Beach Party, and boat building at Build-A-Boat. Meanwhile, Lego Castle land is a world of knights, wizards, and dragons, offering thrilling speed and height challenges.
Across the resort, six restaurants, food stalls, and retail stores offer a diverse range of dining and shopping options. Pigsy’s Food Court, City Restaurant, and Bricks Family Restaurant serve Lego-themed meals. Ice cream carts sell Dragon Ollie and Lego brick-shaped ice cream. The Big Shop, Asia’s largest, and the world premiere Lego Monkie Kid’s Merch shop offer Lego products and exclusives.
Guests can extend their visit with a sleepover at Legoland Hotel, where Ollie the Dragon welcomes them. They enjoy character meet-and-greets, pyjama dance parties, and nightly surprises that bring park magic into bedtime.
Construction began in 2021, and the resort started trial operations in May 2025.
